The product is a novel biocide containing the active ingredient N-butyl-1,2- benzisothiazolin-3-one (BBIT). DENSIL? DN has a broad spectrum of activity against fungi, algae, yeast and bacteria. DENSIL? DN can be used in many different application areas to offer dry film and wet state preservation. Applications DENSIL? DN is effective in many different applications areas including: – Acrylic Emulsions – Polyurethane Adhesives – Emulsion Paints – Ink jets – metal Working Fluid Emulsions and Concentrates – Pigments – Plasterboards – Polymer Emulsions – Sealants – Silicone Emulsions – Starches – Tile Grouts – Thickeners MicrobialControl DENSIL? If frozen, allow to thaw before use. Active agent is heat-stable and non-volatile. Colour Yellow Vapour Pressure @25°C 0.015 Pa Flash Point 178°C Odour Mild or none Compatibility The active ingredient BBT is incompatible with thiols, bleach and metabisulphites. Compatible and effective over pH range 2-12. Good stability in the presence of amines. Amount to Use DENSIL? DN should be added to the system as early in the process as possible. The concentration to adequately preserve your produ0002 uct depends on several factors. These include the susceptibility of the sysu0002 tem to microbiological degradation, the extent to which micro-organisms can gain access, the species involved, pH, temperature, and length of time for which protection is required. A range of concentrations and applications is given in Table 3; however, it is recommended that a testing programme be undertaken to determine the most cost-effective dose for your application. Testing should take into account chemical compatibility/stability, plant hygiene conditions, susceptibility of the product to contamination, and the typical organisms involved. The Lonza Technical Service Group can provide additional guidance on the proper use of DENSIL? DN for your particular application. Table 3.
